Collaborative Approach was formally registered in Kenya in 2022, yet its genesis lies in a decade-long vision forged through lived experience and a commitment to equitable change.
Collaborative Approach was born from the vision of our Founder and Managing Director, Mr. Harun Mwadena Muyesi. A dedicated grassroots youth advocate and ecosystem enabler, Harun's journey began in coastal Kenya, where he witnessed the profound injustices stemming from societal stereotypes and the systemic barriers that stifled the potential of talented individuals, particularly youth.
This firsthand experience ignited a deep-seated commitment: to establish an organisation where authenticity and impact are judged solely on merit, transcending historical mistrust and fostering true inclusion.
Harun's path was not without its challenges. Early experiences, where his crucial contributions to securing funding for others went uncompensated, underscored a broader issue within the ecosystem: young leaders often operate in a volunteer capacity without adequate compensation or safety nets.
Harun's influential anti-corruption advocacy led to a forced relocation to Nairobi, a stark illustration of the shrinking civic space and the risks inherent in challenging systemic weaknesses. These moments of vulnerability and the absence of robust support reinforced the urgent need for an independent entity founded on equitable collaboration, fair valuation, and unwavering resilience.
Our distinctive approach to inclusive engagement with marginalised groups was notably recognized by the British High Commission during the historic visit of King Charles III, highlighting our global relevance and commitment.
Honored by Kenya's President, Dr. William Ruto, at the inaugural Youth Energy Summit in collaboration with Energynet, acknowledging our pivotal role in empowering young voices within the clean energy sector.
Our pioneering collaboration with the Embassy of Ireland in Kenya supported innovative, youth-led advocacy and awareness initiatives for climate action in ASAL regions and Kakuma Refugee Camp.
These milestones have propelled us to continuously refine our strategic direction and enhance our impact. Through our unique, adaptive leadership model, we aim to be the bridge that connects stakeholders, empowers beneficiaries, and builds resilient, impact-driven networks.
